Berenice is a communications professional with over thirteen years of experience in helping to create and deliver comprehensive and robust public education and awareness campaigns that engage a wide range of audiences. Berenice’s brings her diverse perspective and expertise in public policy, outreach and communications to each initiative at Morreale Communications.  

Morreale experienced significant growth throughout Alvarez’s tenure from a three-person boutique agency into the thriving, award winning powerhouse with a dynamic and diverse team of more than 30 communications professionals.

As Partner, Berenice oversees Morreale's day-to-day operations and directs a dedicated team of communications, creative and administrative professionals. She positions the firm for strategic growth within their five impactful sectors that are essential to the firm's success. With a focus in land use and transportation planning, Berenice leads the Transportation, Mobility, and Infrastructure team in delivering public involvement processes that solicit and gather input from target stakeholders and community members locally and statewide.  

Alvarez’s leadership at the firm has contributed greatly to building a collaborative culture – even in the remote environment - as well as a diverse and impressive client roster, earning her high regard internally and externally. Her work has led Morreale to 20+ awards and recognitions in the last three years from prestigious industry trade groups, such as the Public Relations Society of America, the Publicity Club of Chicago and the Hermes Creative Awards. 

Prior to joining Morreale Communications, Berenice worked at the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning where she gained on-the-ground experience reaching and engaging over 284 municipalities throughout northeastern Illinois on decision-making processes that impacted their quality of life. Berenice developed and implemented public involvement and communications campaigns focused on economic development, transit-oriented development, zoning and housing issues.  

Berenice brings first-hand experience navigating the Illinois legislative process. In 2010, Berenice started her career in the Illinois General Assembly in Springfield, coordinating closely with state and community leaders to push forward local and state-wide initiatives. Berenice managed the Springfield and Chicago offices for the Second Legislative District which included overseeing the legislative agenda and district budget.  

Berenice is a member of the American Council of Engineering Companies in Illinois. She is a 2020 Fellow of the Chicago Latino Caucus Foundation Leadership Academy and was named Negocios Now Latinos 40 under 40 Class of 2017. 

Berenice is a native Spanish speaker and holds an M.A. in Public Policy and Administration from Northwestern University and a B.A. in Urban and Public Affairs from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Berenice resides in the northwest suburbs of Chicago with her husband, two kids, and English Bulldog.
